Check Locations

A location is where a check runs. Managed locations check services reachable from Probed; private locations run an agent in infrastructure you control.

Managed locations

Choose from the locations offered by your workspace in the monitor editor. Availability depends on the deployed service and your plan. Do not assume that every region identifier in an upstream library is a deployed Probed location.

Checks from different locations help distinguish a local connectivity problem from a broader outage. Review the affected location alongside the check result when investigating a failure.

Private locations

A private agent can reach internal endpoints without exposing them to the public internet. It still needs outbound access to Probed and network access to each target. See Create a private location.
