Heartbeat Monitors
A heartbeat monitor waits for your scheduled job to call its ping URL. Use it for backups, cron jobs, and other work Probed cannot check by opening a connection.
Set up a heartbeat
Choose Heartbeat when creating a monitor. Configure its expected interval and grace period, then securely copy the ping URL shown after creation. The token is shown once; treat the entire URL as a secret. Rotate it through the dashboard if it is lost or exposed, and update the job with the new URL.
The URL is hosted under https://api.probed.dev/public/heartbeat/. Use the full generated URL rather than constructing a token yourself.
Send signals
GET and POST are accepted. Calling the base ping URL records success. You can append /start, /success, or /fail to record that signal. A success signal should run only after the actual job has succeeded; sending an unconditional ping can hide failures.
A missed interval plus grace period, or an explicit failure signal, can move the monitor into failure. Attach a notification channel and verify the behavior with a job you control.
Keep ping URLs out of source control, screenshots, and public status updates.
