ICMP Monitors

An ICMP monitor sends echo requests to a hostname or IP address and records round-trip latency and packet loss.

Configuration

Choose ICMP, enter the host without a URL scheme or port, and select the schedule and locations. Set the timeout and degraded threshold for the network you are checking.

Each check sends up to three echo requests. Receiving at least one reply makes the reachability check successful; latency is averaged over the replies received. Packet loss remains useful evidence even when the check succeeds.

A host or firewall may deliberately block ICMP while its application works. Use TCP, HTTP, or gRPC when those better represent the service your users depend on.
